Snowball

Little dog's gone from me,
Sometimes I think of thee,
Running, barking, on the go,
Little Snowball I loved thee so,
‘'Twas many years ago,
When I had to let thee go,
You just laid down and died,
In my heart I deeply cried,
Remembering the days as we'd play,
For hours, sometimes, all day,
Then I was a teenage kid,
Laughed at all you did,
A "hunting" we would go,
Just run, pant and blow!
Maybe you're still around,
Lately I hear your footstep sound,
Lord, keep him close to Thee,
There in Heaven be . . .
Wait, for me little one,
One day, I to, will come,
Then maybe again we'll run and play,
Thinking back to another day,
I brushed your teeth and made you foam,
Brushed thy hair, then used a comb,
Keep a watch on me as I sleep,
And with my heart, gently keep.
