As Time Goes By

All the treasures we store up are just memories of yesterday,
Joys and sorrows come back to remind us of life, all the way,
Our whole life, we never seem to notice as time goes by,
Until the many tomorrow's are gone, then we let tears fall as we cry.

Little children playing out in the yard, joy in squealing, joy in play,
We sit and waste our day by not noticing all the joy in their day,
So time passes on by and then all we can do is look back to then,
And inside our hearts we wish the kids were here today, out playing again.

We have had a good life, worthwhile it all then seemed to be,
But as time goes by, I look again into the past and this is what I see,
Days of happiness and despair, days of all the love there could ever be,
So as time passes by, let not me cry, but realize the fullness of life in me.

Where did it all go? Wasn't it just yesterday when you and I said I do?
We're in the fall of our years now my dear, but most of our dreams came true,
We lean on each other, I'm afraid I lean much more than do you,
For you've always been so strong all along, even now in all the things you do.

Come back with me my love, let's go back to yesterday, just for a day,
Then we'll come back and as time goes by, we'll just stay here and play,

Pretend we can do anything we want to do, and I believe we can,
As time goes by we can go to all the places we've dreamed of in this,
our land.
