Sunset on the Sea

He was sailing again today, the last haul of the season,
I wanted to call him back, but for what reason?
They were deep sea fishing today, I saw the sunrise,
I wanted him to look back again, to tell him, catch the prize.

But oh! The beauty of the sunset, with orange and red aglow,
Yellow in between, with the feeling of peace I know,
What a glorious sight our Lord did make for our eyes to see,
The sun going down over the vastness of the ocean, so lovely to be.

Ships and boats sailing, as seagulls follow close behind,
Always looking for food, keeping the ships in mind,
Screaming atop the masts, waiting for the sun to disappear,
That they might enter the nests they’ve built that’s very near.

I see my guys coming in again, little son’s face aglow
He said Mama, you wouldn’t believe how far out in the ocean I did go,
I almost didn’t let him, nor neither his dad that day,
Had the strangest feelings in my stomach, that they might lose the way.

But the sun directed them back to me, at least my heart tells me so,
When I look at the vast ocean so deep, the sun all aglow,
I feel a tugging inside the heart of me, I can not explain,
But that’s when I go to the beach and watch the sunset once again.
