My Papa
Some people might think my daddy, really, isn't here, But, although He’s in Heaven now, I feel him very near... Inside my heart and mind, the love never goes away. His love will be in his family’s heart, forever and a day.
You didn't know my dad; we called him Papa always. He was a wonderful, loving Papa all of his days. I can see him driving the mules, as he plowed the fields. All the old, unwanted grass, and weeds, had to yield.
He grew farm, food to eat that mama put upon the table. He made a living this way many years, long as he was able. I can see him feeding the old mules, before he would eat himself. Curry them and brush them down at night, put the tools upon a shelf.
We were a large, and loving family, with Papa at the head. He was a Christian, and I know he said Prayers by his bed. Mama loved him, and all us kids did, more than I can say. We cried, when he had to go, and leave us behind, that day
But we know he is in the able hands of our Lord now... So. we will all be able to live without him, somehow... For Jesus holds him now and he surely has no more pain. One day when the Savior calls us, then we'll be with Papa again.
For Bill... dedicated to his PAPA
